Karen Hoefer

Karen Hoefer brings the ability gained as a Certified Public Accountant, Financial Director, and Chief Financial Officer to the Board of Elizabeth’s Wish.  Her career was launched in Boston at Merrimack College and went forward with Karen earning a total of sixteen years of finance and administrative experience in both private industry and nonprofits.

In 1993, Karen moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania where she worked for Ernst & Young, LLP.  Along her path, Karen met her husband Bill in Boston, got married, moved to Pennsylvania and raised a daughter and two sons. Karen returned to the world of business as Director of Finance at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries in Philadelphia for six years. She then switched back to the private sector as CFO and led a team to start an affiliate ecommerce company. 

Karen says that fate brought her and Elizabeth together in 2012 when they met and became friends. She describes Elizabeth as an inspiration to her and her family and considers it an honor to participate in forwarding Elizabeth’s Wish. Karen lauds Elizabeth’s energy and commitment to helping others which was present to the very end of her life.
